Once again Liguria wins first place in the Italian Blue Flag ranking, the awards assigned to provinces, localities and structures in 49 countries around the world according to 32 criteria.

Once again – for the sixteenth consecutive year – Marina di Varazze is among the entities present in Liguria to which the prestigious recognition of the Foundation of Environmental Education (FEE) goes.

The Blue Flag certifies excellence in the sustainable management of the territory and structures; it is awarded both to the Municipalities and to the tourist ports and adds to other awards obtained by Marina di Varazze since its opening. Among these: the “Five stars” certification awarded by the International Marine Certification Institute, the Best Marina Development Italy 2008 and the Best Luxury Marina Development Italy 2010.

Among the main aspects assessed by the FEE International Commission are the quality of environmental management, services, safety, water quality and commitment to environmental education and information.

The protection of the marine environment has always been a strong point of Marina di Varazze’s corporate policies. Evidence of this is the countless initiatives developed in collaboration with research institutes, schools and associations – and of course shipowners – managing to give continuity to the positive results, with a view to continuous improvement. Activities to raise public awareness of environmental sustainability issues, in-depth studies on the marine faunal heritage – also from a scientific point of view – and water protection continue constantly.
